Tarn Shelf, Mt Field
Distance: 14.5 km
Date: This event will not be held in 2017 due to permit issues.
Description: The Tarn Shelf on Mt Field is one of the finest alpine runs Tassie has on offer. Starting at Lake Dobson the run begins with a steep climb up to the Mt Mawson ski huts before heading out to the Rodways and Tarn shelf. The route along tarn shelf is a truly magical alpine wonderland with secret tarns and little waterfalls at every turn. Once past Lake Newdegate the trail heads down, dropping past Twilight tarn, to the Broad River valley and Lake Webster. From here it's a lovely run up the valley through the buttongrass and snowgums back to the finish at Lake Dove.
This is an exposed alpine course and as such is subject to exteme weather, runners will be required to carry the folowing compulsory warm gear: a thermal top, a space blanket and a roller bandage. A waterproof top and additional warm clothes/beanie/gloves are also suggested in case the weather gods do not smile on us!
Entry fee: $50 per person
Entry Cap: there is a cap of 50 runners for this event (so enter early!!)

Run #1 Shadow Lake Circuit - Lake St Clair
Distance: 13km
Date: Sunday 19th February 2023 tbc
Description: This run starts and finishes near the front of the lake St Clair visitor centre. The course traverses the subalpine zone (which is why we are doing it in summer!), climbing up to just over 1000m. But don't let this scare you off, the track only climbs 270m over 6.5km and then of course the rest of the way is downhill! The track passes through some lovely areas of subalpine rainforest and pencil pines and incorporates two bridges across the picturesque Hugel river.
We will run the loop in an clockwise direction starting with the climb up the Mt Rufus track before turning off toward Shadow lake. From the lake the track descends alongside the Hugel river back to Watersmeet and the finish at Cynthia Bay.
There are of course great views of the surrounding mountains including those closest; Mt Rufus, Little Hugel and Mt Olympus.
Entry fee: $65 per person
Run start time: 9am at Lake St Clair.
